Like most organizations in the world, Salt Lake City's government runs on technology. We at IMS do our best to make sure this technology is practical, usable, and allows our employees and citizens to collaborate quickly and efficiently with one another. Whether that be phone systems, websites, financial applications or the hardware that goes into the infrastructure of our environment - it needs to work, and it needs to be simple to use.
We are very proud of our accomplishments, and we strive to be the very best IT organization in local government. Since 2000, IMS and Salt Lake City have been recognized every year by the Center for Digital Government in their Digital Cities Survey as one of the top 10 in the nation (for cities of our size) for our use of technology. We choose the right tools to solve the City's business challenges by:
- Making sure the technology for our employees, residents, and businesses is up and running without their knowing the effort and hours we put in behind the scenes to make it available. All they need to know is if it should be there and working, it is.
- Embracing new and innovative ways to engage the public, enabling us to make better decisions and form better policies by getting a better understanding of the needs and wants of the community. We at IMS are right there looking at new and better tools to accomplish that, and to what the future may bring.
